OMKAR is a freelance Theatre Director, Designer and Actor Trainer in India. He is a graduate from National School of Drama (New Delhi) specializing in ‘Design and Direction’ (2007). He is also a pass out from Ninasam Theatre Institute, Heggodu (2004). He holds an MBA to his credit specializing in HRM & Systems from SDM Institute for Management (2002) and has worked as COO in Health Sector of an NGO Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Mysore for an year.

He has taught as a Theatre Arts/Drama Faculty at International Schools in Jakarta, Indonesia and Bengaluru, India and has taught in Film Acting Schools in Mumbai. He has conducted several theatre workshops across the country for the amateur, semi-professional and professional theatre practitioners.

He has directed several plays in various languages and has also worked in various capacities such as music design, lighting design, stage & set design, stage properties, stage management, adaptation & translation works, script writing, actor training and acting.

His directorial works include Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Fritz Karinthy’s ‘Refund’, Tennessee William’s ‘Glass Menagerie’, Ibsen’s ‘A Doll’s House’, R.K. Narayan’s ‘A Tiger for Malgudi’, Paresh Mokashi’s ‘Mukkam Post Bombilwadi’, Dharmaveer Bharati’s ‘Andha Yug’, Mohan Rakesh’s ‘Adhe Adhure’, Habib Tanvir’s ‘Charandas Chor’, Anton Chekhov’s ‘Cherry Orchard’, Dr. K.Y. Narayanaswamy’s ‘Huli Seere’, Asif Currimbhoy’s ‘Dumb Dancer’ and the same as ‘Nirob Katha’ in Bengali to name a few.

His design works like set design and lighting design include Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’, Henrik Ibsen’s ‘A Doll’s House’, Robert Browning’s ‘The Pied Piper’, Manoj Mitra’s ‘Banojotsna’, Shama Fateh-ully’s ‘Taj Mahal’, etc.

He has acted in several plays like Romeo & Juliet, Taj Mahal, Malavikagnimitram, Arsenic and The Old Lace, Katha Chaupal, A Doll’s House, Three Penny Opera, Crime and Punishment, Good Woman of Schezuan, Chandragupta, Bhoota, Mahanirvan, Katha Chaupal, Bidesia, Godaan only to name a few. He has acted in films and short films like ‘Crazy Kutumba’, ’15 Ee Vayasse Onthara’, ‘Conditions Apply’, ‘Dreams’, etc.

He has a wide range of experience of working with the eminent theatre personalities such as Ranjit Kapur, Robin Das, Dr. Anuradha Kapur, Abhilash Pillai, D.R.Ankur, K.S.Rajendran, Raj Bisaria, K.V. Akshara, S. Raghunandana, Prasad Vanarase, Venkatraman Aithal, Jameel Ahmed (Bangladesh), Martin Houghton (Engalnd), Rob Clare (England), Peter Cooke (Australia) and so on. Apart from his directorial works, takes keen interest in Lighting and Music.

OMKAR is an International Master of Memory (IMM) recognized by World Memory Sports Council (WMSC) and also the first Indian to achieve this title at the very first attempt (debut) at any World Memory Championship held until now.

He represented India at the 24th World Memory Championship held in China in December 2015. Team India, led by Omkar bagged 6th position amongst 22 countries around the world, with highest ever championship points in the history of India’s participation in WMC.

He also represented India in many Open Memory Championships held in other nations such as China, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Hong Kong, Egypt and Philippines. He bagged Silver Medal in Egypt and Bronze Medal in Sweden in overall Championships and has also bagged several Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in various disciplines such as Names & Faces, Words, Numbers, Cards, Abstract Images and Spoken Numbers.

He set 3 National Records by memorizing 1854 binary digits (in 30 minutes), 13 packs of playing cards (in One hour) and 395 images (in 15 minutes). Some of his achievements include memorizing 1006 digit numbers (1 Hour), 76 International Names & Faces (15 min), Single pack of playing cards in 81.65 seconds, 112 list of words (15 min), 44 Historic Dates (5 min), 200 digit Numbers (5 min) and 50 digit Spoken Numbers (spoken 1 digit per second).

Currently he is World’s Top 100 (exactly 100th!) and India’s Top 2 Memory Athletes of all time!!

OMKAR is a Rubik’s Cube Expert, Trainer and Athlete from past few years and has taught hundreds of kids, youths, teachers, housemakers, professionals and anyone young at heart who are keen on learning to solve cube.

He has taken part in several National level Cube competitions across India along with his students. Two of his students became India’s Youngest Cube solvers, first one aged 6 years in 2011 and then another one aged below 6 years in 2013.

Some of his personal best achievements in official Rubik’s Cube Championships recognized by World Cube Association (WCA) are, Standard 3x3 Rubik’s Cube (16.41 seconds), 2x2 Cube (3.34 seconds), 4x4 Cube (1:16 min), 5x5 Cube (2:17 min), 6x6 Cube (4:47 min), 7x7 Cube (7:09 min), Pyraminx (7.26 seconds), Megaminx (3:27 min), Square-1 (45.66 seconds), Rubik’s Clock (28.78 seconds), Skewb (8.60 seconds).

He has also solved Rubik’s Cube Blindfolded in 4:25 min, solved Cube One- handed in 52.28 seconds, solved Cube with feet in 3:30 seconds.
